Ooo yeah. I am not looking for any competition, just like life simulation games in general so I thought I should ask if there's any games you guys like in that category.
Te best you'll get i think is Virtual Families which isnt much competition .
Oooo yess!! I loved Virtual Families!
Second life can be considered a competition... Not really.
I was considering Second Life but isn't it like an online social chatting kinda thing?
  • if you like app games on ipad, there is a game called Village Life! I guess that is kinda similar where they have kids and grow up

Hmm, there isn't a lot of competition on the life simulation part. But if you enjoy the kind of gameplay, and providing people with their needs, you may also like city building games.
Tropico is one of my favourites. You take on the role of a Fidel Castro like person, and have to satisfy the people on the island with a communist dictator regime. Trailer:

Anno 2070 is also a favourite. You pick out a people with their own specialities (green environmentalists, technologists, etc.) and will have to develop their places and do politics with other people on the same map. Trailer:

Spore is not a city builder, but a life simulation. It was made by Will Wright, the same bloke behind The Sims and Maxis. You'll get born as a bacteria and will evolve yourself to full blown animals where you'll have to eat, or get eaten. Trailer:

And of course there's SimCity and CitiesXL, both are city builders in their purest forms, but don't care much about the people I think. It may be worth having a look
  • Oh I've always fancied having a go at Spore. Is it really good?

Spore is....strange . its part galactic civilizations part Civilization and part make things look like whatever the frik you want . theres really no other way to describe it . I would recomend it if your looking for a light somewhat comedic civ/creation type game . Steam sometimes has it at a discount so maybe look into getting it there instead of Origin .

yea thats kind of the way it is for me too . once they go to space it kind of dies down for me .
  • I love the cell stage and the preevolution stage. Its just like CAS in S4, but I spent all my time collecting all the parts I could find just so I can customize my creature.

  • Yes, spore was great for the first two levels I think. After that I lost interest. I'd rather just create weird creatures.
As far as the original question, second life maybe? But as noted not really.....
It's kind of sad that I have to point out that anything I say is only just my opinion and may be a different one from someone else.
  • Oooh I'm impressed with you guys, I only used to watch my brother playing Spore and I didn't understand a thing

I agree. I'd love to see a genuine competitor to the sims series. Personally I'd like to see one that's more for adults and not the baby 'T' for teen stuff anymore. I'm so tired of EA always keeping things so childish, zombies that eat plants, vampires that have to ask permission and things like that. I want something gritty and real. I want GTA & Skyrim mixed with The sims, lol!
  • Try out Singles, its a life simulation, more of dating actually, but not as powerful as TheSims.

  • There was this game called 'The Movies' that my cousin bought me one Christmas and said, 'This'll un-addict you from The Sims 2.' Apparently it revolved around building a movie studio full of actors and actresses. Or something. I don't actually know because I was too addicted to The Sims 2.

  • I played the trial version of it, was really interesting, but I was also hooked in the Sims 2 at that time.

The Movies was a pretty good tycoon game and easily modable to boot . It can be a bit of a pain to get it to work now so i cant reccomend it do to that fact .

I played that before. I thought it was fun but hated how we had to have our villager marry someone else's villager.

  • Imvu is fun. its not necessarily like Sims but you get to make your own avatar and you can roleplay what your avatar does.
